Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4

Finally here comes the new Lamborghini Murcielago who was unveiled in the US under the name Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4.
The LP700-4 Aventador is powered by a 6.5-liter V12 engine that produces 700 PS (690 bhp / 515 kW) and 690 Nm (509 lb-ft) of torque. It is connected to a Graziano ISR 7-speed automatic (single clutch with dual sychronizers) transmission and a Haldex all-wheel drive system that enables the supercar to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph).

It has a full carbon fiber monocoque or passenger cell that weighs just 147.5 kilograms (324.5 lbs), while the whole body-in-white tips the scales at 229.5 kilograms (505 lbs). This body structure enables a torsional rigidity measurement of 35,000 Newton meters per degree of twist. The Aventador gets Lambo’s new ISR transmission, claimed to be faster and ‘more emotional’ than a dual-clutch system. It comes with three driving modes adjusting engine, transmission, diff, steering and dynamic control, and they are ‘Strada’ (road), Sport and ‘Corsa’ (track).

The Aventador LP 700-4, Lambo's newest top dog, hopes to build on the glorious excess of its predecessor. Fusing design cues found in the Reventón and Sesto Elemento, the Lamborghini Aventador has much in common with past Lamborghini flagships: it is named after a famous bull, packs a V12 warp drive, allows entry through a pair of scissor doors, and makes no sense as a daily driver. It has also picked up the Murcielago's electronic air intakes due to their functionality and downright awesomeness. Broad details, however, are where the similarities stop.

According to Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. “The Aventador is a jump of two generations in terms of design and technology, it’s the result of an entirely new project, but at the same time it’s a direct and consistent continuation of Lamborghini’s brand values. It is extreme in its design and its performance, uncompromising in its standards and technology, and unmistakably Italian in its style and perfection. Overall, the dynamics and technical excellence of the Aventador LP 700-4 makes it unrivaled in the worldwide super sports car arena.”

This is the first all-new Lamborghini developed engine since the Countach. Design of the engine was simple in theory. The Aventador’s engine is mated to an all-new “Lamborghini ISR” – the ISR stands for Independent Shifting Rod – seven-speed single clutch automated manual gearbox that combines quick shift time with manual shifting, which proves to be quite useful when a car has a low weight and compact dimensions.

Inside the monocoque, drivers will be protected by not only the rigidity offered by the one-piece design of the car, but also the primary (front), head/thorax, and knee airbags. The car's readouts and info are found on a TFT-LCD screen similar to that found in the Reventón. As always, colors and exclusive options are there should your wallet and accountant permit.
